CR3 Group

In 2021, ShawKwei & Partners acquired a 100% stake in CR Asia Group, now rebranded as CR3, for $101 million. This acquisition was a strategic move to strengthen CR3’s market position and leverage the energy transition to a lower-carbon economy.

Founded in 1991, CR3 specializes in energy engineering solutions, including specialized maintenance, plant upgrades, revamps, shutdowns, and engineering with a focus on energy efficiency, engineering excellence, and sustainability solutions.

ShawKwei’s goal was to transform CR3 into an industry leader by upgrading facilities, making strategic acquisitions, implementing world-class management practices, along with investing in organizational and operational improvements.

As part of this transformation, CR3 opened a new regional hub in Abu Dhabi in December 2023 to capitalize on growth opportunities in the region, leveraging partnerships and initial projects in the UAE. In September 2023, CR3 also expanded its operations by relocating to a larger facility in Malaysia.

Additionally, ShawKwei formed a strategic alliance with ZymeFlow to build a new facility in Thailand, boosting CR3’s capacity to provide decontamination solutions across Asia. This facility will enable on-site blending of specialty chemicals, reducing lead times and costs for customers.

ShawKwei acquired ZymeFlow in 2023. Founded over 35 years ago, ZymeFlow is the worldwide leader in hydrocarbon decontamination for safe and fast vessel entry. Its ecofriendly and patented products and services are highly efficient in the decontamination and maintenance of energy, as well as chemical processing facilities in the US and around the world.

CR3 is also constructing another blending facility in India to serve both the Indian and Middle Eastern markets, focusing on innovations in effluent management, LNG/gas processing, and reactor cleaning, further reinforcing its commitment to sustainable solutions.
